A Structured Approach
At Bergland Wealth Management, we specialize in working with successful physicians, entrepreneurs, and retirees as well as other individuals and families approaching retirement or who have recently transitioned into retirement. They understand the value of having a professional who can help them make smart decisions, get financially organized, pursue those things most important to them, and maximize the probability of achieving those things most important to them.
We have developed an internal, fiduciary, consultative process over the years that helps us serve you as what many clients call us -- your personal Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This is one who can identify where you are now, where you want to go, and then identify any gaps for getting there. Through this process, we spend a lot of time and energy to determine if we’re the right fit for you. In other words, we want to have a tremendous impact on the lives of those we work with. Accordingly, we seek to build a Win/Win relationship – not a Win/Lose or a Lose/Win – but a true Win/Win relationship with each client. An example of success in this regard might be when one comments on how they have peace-of-mind now or words to the affect they are now able to sleep well at night knowing they have a plan and a partner working for them as their guide and educator.
We begin by listening to your greatest financial concerns and determine if we are the right fit for you. If we determine that we are not the right fit for you, that we cannot have a tremendous impact on your life, we will let you know and do our best to point you in the direction of another firm that might be a better fit.
The second meeting, which takes place around two weeks after the Introductory Meeting, delves deeper into who you are and what’s important to you. Here we ask you a series of questions around seven themes in order to drill down and get to know you better.
Mutual Commitment Meeting
If both parties feel we are a good fit for one another, we formalize our client/advisor relationship and begin building your Wealth Management Plan. This meeting typically takes place one week after the Discovery Meeting.
Investment Plan Meeting
Three to four weeks following the Mutual Commitment Meeting, we deliver your Investment Policy Statement, which integrates both your level of risk and our passive investment philosophy.
45 Day Follow Up Meeting
Around 45 days after becoming a new client, we walk you through the paperwork you may be receiving, such as account statements and/or quarterly reports.
Regular Progress Meetings
The Regular Progress Meetings begin with the delivery of the client’s personalized Wealth Management Plan which is a comprehensive evaluation of the range of financial needs with our recommendations for moving forward. This meeting typically takes place two months after the Investment Plan Meeting. Future quarterly meetings track the progress of the plan as well as monitoring the plan for life’s changes.
